One Direction hunts for most devoted fans via Twitter

T

span class="inline inline-center">Trubunnews.comLondon-based pop boy band One Direction will hold a worldwide competition on Twitter this Saturday to find the 10 countries where their most devoted fans live.

The competition, which will run for 24 hours across 140 countries, will count the total number of posts that use the hashtag #1DID in each country.

For the first time ever, Twitter will exclusively design emojis depicting the One Direction logo together with the national flag of each winning country.

Special emojis have already been created featuring each member of the band '€“ Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne '€“ ahead of the release of their new album Made in the AM.

The hashtags #1D, #MadeinTheAM, #1DLouis, #1DHarry, #1DNiall and #1DLiam are being used and the corresponding emojis will automatically appear after they are tweeted.

Made in the AM is the band'€™s fifth album and their first without former member Zayn Malik. After launching this album, the quartet will go on a hiatus from March 2016.

Indonesia is reported to be one of the most active twitter nations in the world. Meanwhile, One Direction continues to experience popularity amongst online fans in Indonesia and around the world.

Will One Direction find their most dedicated fans in Indonesia?

Indonesian '€œdirectioners'€ are expected by some to dominate the competition this Saturday.

Directioners worldwide will be able to monitor the competition live on www.madeintheam.com.

One Direction got their break on the The X Factor UK in 2010 but failed to win the competition, placing third in the finals. Shortly after, music producer Simon Cowell, who was also one of the judges in the competition, signed them. The rest, as they say, is history. (liz/dan)
