ALU: The Central Sulawesi Election Monitoring Agency (Bawaslu) has reported two members of the provincial General Elections Commission (KPUD) to the Election Organization Ethics Council (DKPP) over a botched election debate in Palu.
In the recent debate event between opposing candidates for the post of governor and vice governor, KPUD members had forgotten to bring along a list of questions for the competing candidate pairs, triggering anger in the audience and leading to the cancellation of the debate.
Central Sulawesi Bawaslu chief Ratna Dewi Pettalolo said a preliminary investigation had found that KPUD chairman Sahran Raden and member Nisbah Mariadjang were responsible for the incident.
'Their actions has led to the public debate being stopped,' Ratna said.
Sahran, meanwhile, said he was ready to accept any sanctions should the DKPP find that the incident had violated the ethics code for local elections.
