A grenade caused a blast in the Multi Piranti Graha office building in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, at 3 a.m. on Monday morning, injuring an office security guard. The police are investigating the incident and looking over all CCTV records from the building.

"We suspect that there is an internal dispute related to office management, or a personal dispute ['€¦] behind this blast,'€ said Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Cmdr. Mohammad Iqbal as quoted by kompas.com in Jakarta, on Monday.

Maulana, 33, has his chest badly hurt by glass splinters that sprayed all over the place when the blast went off. He was taken to Pondok Kopi Islamic hospital for medical treatment, Santoso said.

Insp. Gen. Tito Karnavian of the Jakarta Police said that the grenade, which damaged parts of the building also, could have been thrown into the lobby from the street.

"At that time, two security personnel were on duty for night watch. Slamet Haryanto, 34, was guarding the front post, while Maulana was resting and checking his mobile phone near the terrace," Tito said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Another security guard, Rohim, said that the police had taken custody of all CCTV records for further investigation. Rohim was on holiday during the grenade attack, but decided to go to work to check the situation at the office and check on his partner'€™s condition.

The bomb disposal squad (Gegana) was deployed to the location in anticipation of the discovery of explosives hidden in the area and to assist with crime scene investigation. A police line was erected to keep the crime scene sterile. (ags)(+)
