The Borneo Extravaganza 2015 tourism exhibition will be held in Bandung next week to promote Kalimantan as a domestic tourism destination.

Raseno Arya, assistant deputy for market development at the Tourism Ministry, said the event was a collaboration between the ministry and all of Kalimantan'€™s provincial administrations: North Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan and South Kalimantan.

"The exhibition aims to lure more tourists from other regions across the archipelago to visit Kalimantan. Similar to last year's exhibition in Bali, Borneo Extravaganza 2015 will showcase various opportunities for tourists in the five provinces in Kalimantan," he said in a press conference on Monday.

This year is the seventh time the ministry has held the event since 2004, and the first time the event has been held in consecutive years. Prior to this year, the extravaganza was a once-every-two-years affair.

Borneo Extravaganza 2015 will be held at Bandung Indah Plaza from Nov. 27 to 29 and feature various interesting events such as a gem stone exhibition, a handicraft exhibition and traditional arts performances.

Raseno said eight travel agents were participating in the exhibition, offering tour packages for destinations around Kalimantan.

'€œThe exhibition is free of charge and visitors will be able to purchase tour packages to Kalimantan on the spot,'€ he said. (rin)(+)
