rosecutors asked the Banda Aceh District Court on Thursday to sentence four drug dealers for possessing and selling 75 kilograms of sabu-sabu (crystal methamphetamine).
Prosecutor Munandar said the defendants, Abdullah, 36, Hasan Basri, 35, Samsul Bahri, 36, and Hamdani, 35, who were arrested by a joint team from the National Narcotics Agency and East Aceh Police in February this year, smuggled the drug from Malaysia by sea.
'There are no particular positive factors presented with regard to the defendants but there are many aggravating factors, such as the fact that the defendants once tried to escape from detention,' Munandar told the court.
He said the drugs were confiscated from the defendants' accomplice, identified as Usman, who is still at large, thought to be in the vicinity of his house in Nabok, Lue Bu village, Pereulak district, East Aceh. Besides the drugs, he said the officers also confiscated three pistols, three bullets and a sailing document under the name of Hasan Basri, one of the defendants.
Presiding judge Sulthoni adjourned the trial for a further two weeks, following this, defendants' pleas will begin.
