nthony Sinisuka Ginting failed to advance to the finals of the Hong Kong Open badminton championship after losing to Tian Houwei of China 18-21, 21-11, 21-6 in the semifinals on Saturday.
He was Indonesia's last men's singles player to exit the tournament following Tommy Sugiarto and Ihsan Maulana Mustofa, who lost to Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia and Lin Dan of China, respectively, in the opening round.
Their women's compatriots Lindaweni Fanetri and Maria Febe Kusumastuti also had to pack up early.
Indonesia's title hopes rest on women's doubles pair Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii and men's doubles pair Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, who are scheduled to go up against Tang Yuanting/Yuyang of China and Mathias Bo/Carsten Mogensen of Denmark.
Indonesia had six representatives in the quarterfinals on Friday but Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto (mixed doubles), Angga Pratama/Ricky Karanda Suwandi and Gideon Markus Fernadli/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo (men's doubles) were beaten by their opponents.
