ax arrears in North Jakarta have reached Rp 163 billion (US$1.16 million) because 216 middle-high income taxpayers in the area have not paid their dues, an official says.
North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Tax Agency head Selkiansyah said that the agency had installed arrears warning boards at 216 buildings in North Jakarta, mostly in luxury residential areas.
According to him, the warning boards urge the taxpayers, those in arrears for a minimum of Rp 500 million, to pay their property taxes within seven days.
'We hope that we will receive the Rp 163 billion in arrears,' Selkiansyah said on Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He added that one of the taxpayers to receive notification was the state-owned shipyard Dok & Perkapalan Kodja Bahari, yet to pay its Urban and Rural Land and Building Tax (PBB-P2) of approximately Rp 11 billion.
