Jakarta Governor Basuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama has promised to complete scrutinizing the budget allocations for each working unit under the Jakarta city administration this week to complete the draft city budget for 2016 and submit it for deliberation to the City Council.

Ahok'€™s announcement comes after the Home Affairs Ministry recently warned both Ahok and members of the City Council to immediately complete work on the draft budget or face the prospect of not receiving their salaries for six months next year.

'€œI hope this Friday we will have finished checking 90 percent of the draft budget, so that we can have a meeting with the City Development Planning Agency (Bappeda),'€ Ahok said in Jakarta on Wednesday, as reported by kompas.com.

He added that after all the work had finished, the budget document, officially known as the General Policy for City Budget Priorities and the Tentative Budget Platform (KUA-PPAS), would be locked in e-budgeting and e-planning systems.

The governor expressed hope that the KUA-PPAS would be signed by representatives of the city administration and the City Council next Monday.

Since last Friday, Ahok has been scrutinizing allocations for each working unit of the city administration, including the City Tourism and Culture Agency, the City Education Agency, the City Parks and Cemeteries Agency, the City Water Management Agency, the City Sanitation Agency, the City Bina Marga (Road) Agency, the City Housing and Building Agency, City Industry and Energy Ministry, the City Fire Fighting and Rescue Agency, the City Health Agency, the City Communication, Information and Public Relations Agency and the City Communication and Transportation Agency.

On Wednesday, Ahok said he was looking into the planned allocations for the City Tax Services Agency and added the remaining agencies would be scrutinized by Friday. (bbn)(+)
