The Indonesian government, through the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and the United Nations (UN) are set to launch the Indonesia'€“UN Partnership for Development Framework (UNPDF) for 2016-2020 on Thursday.

National Development Planning Minister Sofyan A.Djalil and UN Resident Coordinator Douglas Broderick are expected to sign the document at its launch event at the Bappenas headquarters.

The UNPDF 2016-2020 will serve as the basis for development cooperation between the Indonesian government and the UN. The framework is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Indonesia'€™s National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) for 2016 to 2019.

'€œThe UNPDF 2016'€“2020 focuses on four key priority outcomes, namely poverty reduction, social services and social protection, environmental sustainability and enhanced resilience to shocks, and improved governance and equitable access to justice for all,'€ the UNDP said in a statement on Wednesday.

Each of the outcome areas are in accordance with to Indonesia'€™s development context and the RPJMN. Five cross-sectoral areas that have been prioritized are related to human rights, gender equality, HIV/AIDS, young people and statistics and data management.

'€œThis partnership aims to mobilize national and global resources and expertise from government, UN, development partners, civil society, and the private sector to promote sustainable development in Indonesia,'€ the UNDP said.

'€œWith their experiences and comparative advantages, the UN will support the government in three main areas: policy advice and advocacy, capacity building and knowledge sharing.'€ (ebf)
