Mali's security forces say they have arrested two men in connection with last week's attack on a luxury hotel in the capital that killed 19 people.
A statement emailed Friday morning by army Maj. Modibo Naman Traore said the men were arrested Friday in Bamako. It identified them as Seidou Diepkile, arrested in the neighborhood of Missabougou, and Adama Maiga, arrested in the neighborhood of Sangarebougou.
The statement said the arrests "would shed more light on the motivations of the perpetrators of the sordid terrorist attack" at the Radisson Blu hotel on Nov. 20.
Two gunmen were killed at the scene. Al-Mourabitoun, the first Islamic extremist group to claim responsibility, issued a statement Sunday identifying them using names suggesting they were Malian, though authorities have yet to confirm their identities. (kes)(+)
