Greater Jakarta: Police find new evidence in abuse case

T

he Jakarta Police may name House of Representatives member Fanny Afriansyah, also known as Ivan Haz, and his wife, Anna Susilowati, suspects for abuse against their housemaid, Toipah, 20, in the near future.

Jakarta Police general crime director Sr. Comr. Krishna Murti said that the police had obtained evidence that strongly suggested the case was a legitimate one.

However, Krishna added that the police could not investigate the House member just yet, because they needed to receive a permit from President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo beforehand in accordance with Legislative Institution Law No. 17/2014, which stipulates that the police must receive presidential permission before summoning a member of the House.

Nonetheless, according to Krishna, the police had already investigated the wife would question her further on Friday.

'€œShe should have come on Monday but she could not make it. Thus, we have rescheduled the questioning session for Friday,'€ Krishna said on Thursday as quoted by wartakotalive.com.
