ctress Hannah Al Rashid has become the butt of the jokes among the cast and crew of her latest movie, Skakmat (Checkmate), on account of her habit of putting on traditional topical oil before and after shooting fight scenes.
She said that actor Tanta Ginting had made fun of her habit, saying that she was 'the only foreigner who used topical oil'.
'The fact that I was not raised in Indonesia doesn't lessen my national pride. I am Indonesian,' said Hannah as reported by tribunnews.com on Thursday.
Born and raised in London, Hannah, now 29, is also a pencak silat athlete. Her father hails from Makassar, South Sulawesi, the province that produces the traditional topical oil known as minyak tawon (wasp oil).
Rubbing the oil on her has become a ritual during her athlete days. 'The oil keeps my body warm and comfortable during fight scenes,' said Hannah.
