House of Representatives Speaker Setya Novanto attended the wedding of his daughter, Dwina Michaella, to Jason F. Harjono, the son of businessman Setiawan Harjono, at the Jakarta Cathedral on Friday.
The wedding ceremony was officiated by Bishop MD Situmorang, while the couple's witnesses were Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan and former energy and mineral resources minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
'The wedding was peaceful and went smoothly,' said Suharyono, an official who filmed the wedding, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The wedding of Setya's second daughter, who he shares with his former wife, was strongly guarded and only those with invitations were allowed into the church amid the House's ethics council investigation into Setya, who stands accused of misusing the names of President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
Among wedding guests were Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Luhut Panjaitan, Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician Effendi Simbolon, former Bank Indonesia deputy governor Mitanda Goeltom and artist Nadya Saphira.
The bride and groom, Setya and his first wife, Luciana Lily, were seen leaving the church at 5 pm, while Setya's wife, Deisti Astriani Tagor, was not seen among the wedding party.
The wedding reception will be held on Dec. 4 at Hotel Mulia, where 3,000 guests are expected.
The House's ethic council will hear the testimonies of relevant parties in connection with Setya alleged misconduct on Monday.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said reported Setya to the council for allegedly claiming to have won the approval of Jokowi and Kalla to secure shares and projects from Freeport in exchange for helping the company extend its contract and continue operating its gold mine, one the world's largest, in Papua.
