Gas provider PT Donggi-Senoro LNG (DSLNG) has shipped 9 out of 11 cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) targeted this year, and was aiming to increase the number of LNG cargoes for domestic and international markets to 36 next year, an official has said.

DSLNG president director Gusrizal said that 23 of the planned 36 cargoes, each with a capacity of 3 million British thermal units (mbtu) of LNG each, would be exported to Japan and Korea.

'€œThe 23 cargoes will be shipped to our long-term buyers in those two countries, while the remaining 13 cargoes will be sold in the spot market," he said in Jakarta on Monday.

Gusrizal said Donggi-Senoro had entered long-term supply agreements with Chubu Electric, Kyushu Electric and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS).

As of November, he said, Donggi-Senoro had already shipped the agreed-upon LNG supplies to KOGAS and Kyushu while for Chubu, the LNG supply would be delivered by the end of the year.

"This year, we sent the LNG supply to Kyushu and Korea gradually over October and November. Meanwhile, two cargoes will be shipped to Chubu in December," he said.

Gusrizal further explained that Donggi-Senoro had also delivered LNG to its buyer in the domestic market, Pertamina Gas'€™s (Pertagas) Arun regasification terminal.

He added that the company was still discussing the domestic LNG allocation for next year, including that for Arun regasification terminal.

"We do not yet know for sure. We just completed our production planning and our priority is our long-term buyers. The remaining cargoes will be offered to the spot market, including for domestic buyers," he said.

With a production capacity of 2 million tons of LNG per year, construction on the US$2.8 billion Donggi-Senoro LNG plant, which is located in Banggai regency, Central Sulawesi, started in 2011 and has been operational since June this year. It commenced delivering LNG cargoes for both domestic and international markets on Aug. 2.

The LNG plant receives a gas supply of 250 million cubic feet per day (mcfd) from the Senoro-Toili block, which is operated by Pertamina-Medco E&P Tomori Sulawesi.

The plant also receives an 85 mcfd gas supply from the Matindok block, which is operated by Pertamina's subsidiary, PT Pertamina EP under Matindok Gas Development Project.

Donggi Senoro is the first project to operate under the downstream business scheme, which separates upstream gas production and downstream LNG processing. The downstream business development allows the optimization of state revenue as the LNG plant investment is not subject to cost recovery. The Donggi Senoro LNG plant is the fourth LNG plant in Indonesia. (ebf)(+)
