AKARTA: Despite not yet being able to seriously challenge his world's rivals, Senna Noor's qualification for the world karting championship has been hailed as an accomplishment.
'The result is very satisfactory. Senna managed to meet expectations by advancing to the Grand Finals,' Kratingdaeng Riser-Shadaff Motorsprts' principal Bunjamin Noor said on Sunday.
During the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in Portimao, Portugal, in early November, Senna finished in 45th position among 72 racers in the Max DD2 class qualifying race. In the second-chance qualifications, he was unable to mount a challenge and had to sit out of the final race as he did in 2014 in Spain.
He qualified for Portimao after winning the Asian series in which other team members Barrichello Noor finished in fourth place in the Rotax Junior class and younger brother Sergio Noor in seventh place in Micro Max.
'Barri has improved his performance and Sergio has won a thumbs-up for his race in Thailand, Singapore and Sentul [Indonesia],' Bunjamin said.
'For 2016, we just want the team to maintain their 2015 performance,' he said.
