Jakarta Development Planning Board (Bappeda) head Tuty Kusumawati
Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama has confirmed that the capital administration has completed reviewing the 2016 General Budget Policies and Provisional Budget Ceiling and Priorities (KUA-PPAS).
Ahok said at City Hall on Monday that the city's budgeting system, which lists the cost and prices of each component, was different from that of the previous year.
"It's like the 2015 regional budget," he said.
By using this budgeting system, Ahok added, the process of adopting it as the regional budget could take just four days to process compared to the previous system that could take three months.
Jakarta Secretary Saefullah said the city administration had proposed Rp 66 trillion (US$5 billion) for the 2016 city budget for all working units, adding that he had sent a letter to the City Council to instruct it to continue the budgeting process.
"I sent an official letter to the council when sending the KUA-PPAS documents. We have also reported to the Home Ministry," he said.
Jakarta Development Planning Board (Bappeda) head Tuty Kusumawati said the city would save Rp 1.4 trillion from this budget plan.
'The saved funds will be allocated to infrastructure development, such as building low-cost apartments, land procurement and health and education services," Tuty said. (dan)(+)
