he Public Works and Public Housing Ministry is aiming for early bidding for its 1,057 packages of housing projects worth Rp 6.4 trillion (US$462.42 million), as it strives to improve the sluggish pace of construction and fund disbursement next year.
The early bids kicked off in November with 128 projects to be bid for worth Rp 163.9 billion, and will continue until March 2016.
'We hope that by January next year, we will see 3 percent budget spending by the ministry's directorate general of housing,' the ministry's housing development planning director, Dedy Permadi, said on Monday.
The directorate general, which is partially in charge of the ministry's 1 million homes program, was allocated Rp 3.5 trillion for its capital expenditure (capex) in the 2016 state budget. The housing projects as a whole will include 74 packages for the development of apartments worth Rp 4.7 trillion as well as 180 packages of houses worth Rp 1.28 trillion.
The ministry has conducted early bidding for at least 1,975 project packages this year to improve its budget spending performance. JP/fsu
