ome Minister Tjahjo Kumolo has ordered the dismissal of five students from the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) for assaulting two cadets at the Indonesian Military Academy (Akmil).
'I have to dismiss the IPDN students and transfer [the institute's] officials for failing to be role models [for the students],' Tjahjo said on Monday as quoted by jpnn.com.
The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician said that the IPDN students should be disciplined because they will eventually serve as civil servants.
A reputed hotbed of student violence, the IPDN, which is managed by the ministry, remains a favored choice by those wanting to pursue careers as high-ranking civil servants.
The latest case involved five students who beat the two Akmil cadets while they were visiting the institute's campus in Jatinangor, West Java, last week, for a study tour.
