he Probolinggo Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) in East Java reported that Mount Bromo spewed on Monday volcanic ash that covered a number of villages in Sukapura district, located 17 kilometers from the volcano's crater.
'We received a report that volcanic ash from the volcano reached seven villages in Sukapura on account of wind direction ,' BPBD head Dwi Djoko said on Tuesday, as quoted by Antara news agency.
BPBD data said 19 villages in three districts had so far been affected by the eruption.
According to Dwi, volcanic activities remained unpredictable and the status of the mountain, located at the border between Probolinggo, Malang and Pasuruan regencies, remains on high alert.
