Bali Police tightened security at Kerobokan Penitentiary on Friday morning following a clash that left two inmates dead and two others injured.

Kompas.com reported on Friday that the Bali Police's rapid response unit was standing guard in front of the penitentiary in Denpasar with a water cannon.

Putra Surya, an official with Bali's correctional division of the Justice and Human Rights Ministry, said that he would summon all prison officials including the Kerobokan Prison chief.

He said that there were two groups that clashed in the prison and that was followed by a fight outside of the prison on Jl. Teuku Umar between the same groups.

The two fatalities and the two injured inmates were all taken to Sanglah Hospital.

To help prevent further clashes, Putra said that his office had relocated 110 inmates who had allegedly initiated the clash out of the prison's C Block.

"It's for security measures. They were moved so that they would not cause any security disruptions," he said as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday evening.

The inmates were separated and transported to Tabanan, Bangli, Klungkung, Karangasem and to a drug offenders prison in Bangli.

Three large buses and one mini-bus were used to relocate the inmates at around midnight. (rin)(+)
