irector Nia Dinata is in the process of selecting nine candidates to compete to play in her latest flick, Tiga Dara (Three Girls), inspired by Usmar Ismail's 1956 musical drama of the same name.
Nia's production house Kalyana Shira Films held the initial audition online through an Instagram social media account.
The nine candidates will join Nia for a week of auditions at the 101 Jakarta Sedayu Dharmawangsa Hotel from Jan. 11 to 16 where they will participate in sessions that include dancing, acting and singing.
'We have completed the film's script. The difficult part is looking for actresses who can sing in addition to having excellent acting skills. We want to help the regeneration [of actresses], so we conducted an online casting,' Nia explained as quoted by kapanlagi.com.
She said she will be grateful if she can get one actress to star in Tiga Dara. The Instagram audition process was called 'Mencari Tiga Dara' (Finding Three Girls). One of the candidates is singer Alika Islamadina.
