AKARTA: A 20-year-old woman, identified only as AA, tried to commit suicide by jumping from the second floor of a boarding house in Jelambar, West Jakarta, police said on Friday.
West Jakarta Police spokesman Herru Julianto said the woman had jumped from the second floor of the boarding house at 11 p.m. on Thursday and was currently being treated at Sumber Waras Hospital. The woman needed seven stitches to her head after the incident.
'Her condition is improving now. We gather the suicide attempt was motivated by an argument she had with her boyfriend,' Herru said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
AA was at her friend's boarding house for a social visit, Herru said, when she received a text message from another friend concerning her boyfriend,
Hanan, a local resident, said it had been him who had found AA after hearing a loud sound resembling a collision.
'I ran to the source of the sound and found a woman lying in the street. Her head had hit a motorcycle parked nearby,' he said, added that he had then called local residents to help AA.
