An official of the Strategic Information and Policy Council (DISK), a newly established institution at the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), will be summoned over an alleged ethics breach after he published a copy of his appointment decree on social media.
An official from the agency's communications and information deputy office, who wished to remain anonymous, said all decisions and documents issued by BIN were categorized as state secrets and anyone receiving the documents was not allowed to publish them on social media.
'He will be summoned by BIN's principal secretary. He will be evaluated about the matter,' the official said as quoted by kompas.com in Jakarta on Monday.
The DISK has come into the public spotlight and become a hot topic on social media following the appearance of a copy of a 2015 BIN appointment decree on the appointment of DISK officers on a social media account.
The decree dated Dec. 31, 2015, was uploaded by the chairman of mass organization Komunitas Banteng Muda, Banyu Biru, who was appointed as the council's political division member.
On the decree, which was signed by BIN chairman Sutiyoso and the head of BIN's civil service bureau Suharyanto, it is stated that Banyu Biru will serve for one year, starting from Jan. 1, 2016, to Dec. 31, 2016.
Banyu Biru is son of acclaimed director and composer Eros Djarot.
The operation of DISK is reportedly ad hoc in nature with its main duties and functions being quite different with those belonging to expert staff members of BIN. DISK officials comprise BIN personnel and people from outside the intelligence agency.
As reported earlier, BIN head Sutiyoso initiated the establishment of DISK.
'Yes, I established the Strategic Information and Policy Council at BIN. However, I cannot reveal the duties and functions of the council, and its staff, to the public. All such information is secret in nature,' said Sutiyoso on Monday. (ebf)(+)
