Thousand Islands regency is planning to build six new child-friendly integrated public spaces (RPTRA) on various islands
housand Islands regency is planning to build six new child-friendly integrated public spaces (RPTRA) on various islands.
Thousand Islands Housing and Administration Building Agency head Nanang Sulisyadi said on Thursday that the spaces would be on Panggang Island, Harapan Island, Kelapa Island, Kelapa Dua Island, Tidung Island and Lancang Island. 'It is in accordance with the orders of Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama who wants each subdistrict to have an RPTRA,' he said, as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
The regency has only one child-friendly integrated public space so far, in Untung Jawa Island, while the construction of another park on Pramuka Island is 50 percent complete.
Nanang said his agency had proposed the land plots for the RPTRAs and would later seek funds from private companies through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) schemes as the city administration had not allocated a budget for the RPTRAs. 'I hope they can soon be built. Besides becoming a hub for residents to interact, RPTRAs could also be a new tourism site,' he said.
