Greater Jakarta: More dengue fever cases occur in N. Jakarta

T

he North Jakarta Sanitation Agency recorded 52 new dengue fever cases in the first week of February.

'€œIn January there were only 82 dengue cases, but now the number has reached 134,'€ said North Jakarta Sanitation Agency head Muhammad Helmi as quoted by beritajakarta.com on Monday.

Most of the new dengue patients were school students, he said. Having just entered the rainy season, the city is gearing up for an outbreak of dengue fever. To anticipate the outbreak, Helmi said the agency plans to reactivate its jumantik (mosquito larvae monitoring officer) program in schools to avoid more victims.
