Moradia'€™s hat trick helps Mavecrics beat Tigers

A

splendid bowling performance by Keyur Moradia saw him take the first hat trick of the season in a Division 2 game at Cibubur on Sunday, helping the Mavecrics to defeat the Chairos Tigers by 4 wickets.

Fielding first, the Mavecrics never allowed the Tigers'€™ batsmen to get away as they kept things on a tight leash, limiting them to 42/3 at the first drinks break and 79/4 at the 24 over mark.

Lead by Moradia'€™s stupendous effort with the ball that saw him return with figures of 7/13, the Tigers manage just 137/9 in their full quota of 35 overs.

The Tigers, known for their never-say-die attitude, pulled one back in the very second ball of their bowling effort when they effected a run-out and then further set the cat amongst the pigeons when they had the Mavecrics reeling at 41/4 after 12 overs.

However, a fine 70-run partnership between in-form Miraz Monga (54 runs) and Pradeep Patnaik (28 runs) ensured there were no further jitters before Keyur, riding high from his second hat trick effort with the ball, thudded the ball deep into the boundary to hit the winning runs and with it a deserving man-of-the-match award.

In another game that took place on Saturday at the Cibubur ground, the Metro Indians, riding on a fine all-round performance by Sakthi Narayanan, defeated Indorama CC by 59 runs.

Winning the toss and batting first on a hot steamy day, Metro'€™s opening batsmen gave them the perfect start when they put on 100 runs for the first wicket.

Lead by Prabhu Kaliraj, who rode back to form with an aggressive 78 runs, and Sakthi Narayanan (33 runs), Metro ran up a score of 193 runs before being all out. Kiruba Sankar contributed 39 runs.

For Indorama, Narayanan and Sandeep did well with the ball, taking 4/26 and 4/45 respectively.

In response, Indorama was never in the hunt as it did not get the kind of start it needed and kept losing wickets at regular intervals to be all-out for 134 runs, adrift by 59 runs.

The victory march was spearheaded by man-of-the-match Narayanan (3/16 to go with his 33 runs) along with John and Venkatesh who took two wickets each. Three catches and a run-out effort by Kiruba Sankar evidenced the clinical display the Metro players put up to secure a fine victory.
