Your comments on President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's demand for regulatory breakthroughs and accelerated development of 10 of the nation's key tourist destinations, including Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Labuhan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara and Morotai in North Maluku:
Of course we absolutely agree with the government's plan to boost tourism, but please pay an extra special attention to Lake Toba that has the island of Samosir, as big as Singapore, in the middle of it. Besides, the water is salty and has waves like the sea.
I think the only island on an island on Earth is Samosir Island in Sumatra where I was born during the Japan invasion in January 1942.We trust the government will work overtime on this special matter.

They might want t re-think the Belitung idea on account of a nuclear power plant being proposed to go in there. Do they even talk to each other? Best leave Tanjung Kelayang alone.

A direct decent road from Lake Toba to Brastagi to Bukit Lawang (avoiding Medan) would help immensely.

The overwhelming majority of backpackers want the easy way. With the exception of Bali and maybe the Gilis, Indonesia is not on their list of places to go. This is why for every one person who goes to Indonesia, there are 20 people who go elsewhere in Southeast Asia. I love the type of travel you are talking about; this is one of the reasons I live in Indonesia. Most people want easy travel with comfy buses, air conditioned rooms and Western food. The other countries in Southeast Asia are catering to these people and making tons of money. Indonesia is big enough to have both types of travel.
