Your letters: RI suitable for animal husbandry

T

he large Indonesian archipelago is located in the best part of the world, where things easily grow. The constant hot weather guarantees the feed needed for breeding livestock all year round.

While seawater that can be treated to remove the salt is readily available to quench the thirst of cattle, rumput gajah (elephant grass) and corn easily grow on any island in the archipelago, near the seashore and on mountain slopes.

Cattle waste can be used to produce organic fertilizer to better grow corn and other grasses that cattle will eat. This kind of animal husbandry is not just for milk cows but also for cattle for slaughter as well. Knowing that grass for grazing continues to grow, especially when regularly watered and fertilized, makes it necessary to keep fertilizing grazing areas with organic fertilizer obtained through the fermentation of the waste of cows as well left over feed.

Indeed, nothing is wasted in this business. We have born cowboys in the eastern parts of the archipelago. Besides, the idea runs in parallel with the business spirit of President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo. The sooner we start with this business the better for our position in AEC participation.
