Three Indonesian drivers are gearing up for their next challenge in the fourth round of the Malaysian AMC kart racing series at the Sepang circuit, Malaysia, this weekend, deemed a perfect “warm up” before they attend the prestigious X30 challenge in Shah Alam, also in Malaysia, next month.

The race drivers, who currently drive for the Riser ShaDaff team, Pasha M Shaquille, Sergio Noor and his big brother Barrichello Noor headed to Sepang early on Wednesday to fit warm-up sessions in before the race.

The AMC race will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29.

Barrichello and Pasha will be in the senior class while Sergio, who ranked second at Indonesia’s national go-kart competition in Sentul last week, will be in the cadet class. Given his past achievements, Sergio was confident that he was up to the task.

Commenting on this, the team’s technical director Didi Soekardja says this week’s racing will be an ideal warm-up round for his drivers before they go to the X30 challenge next month.

“They can use this race to sharpen their skills and intuition so they can maximize their performance next month,” said Didi, who used to train Indonesian F1 driver Rio Haryanto, in a statement sent to The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

Sigid Hindoroseto, brand-development manager of Kratingdaeng energy drink, one of the team’s main sponsors, agreed, saying continuous racing experience would be able to grow not just the drivers’ self-confidence but also their skills that in the end would contribute to their future journeys.

“All of these tough driving experiences will prepare them for the greater challenges ahead,” he said.

The Riser ShaDaff team is among the teams that continuously send their drivers to various competitions both local and overseas.
