orruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators have raided a judge's office in connection with a bribery case involving Saipul Jamil, a dangdut singer recently sentenced to three years in prison for sexual abuse.

Prosecutors had previously demanded that judges sentence Saipul to seven years in prison and fine him Rp 100 million (US$7,490).

At 20:45 p.m. on Thursday, KPK investigators left the office of Ifa Sudewi the judge, who presided over Saipul's trial at the North Jakarta District Court.

Earlier on Thursday, the investigators raided the offices of court clerks Rina Pertiwi, Rohadi and Doly Sieregar.

The investigators took one case and two boxes of document from the offices.

North Jakarta District Court spokesman Hasoloan Sianturi said he was unaware of the nature of the documents seized by the KPK. ”We have not been informed,” Hasoloan said as reported by kompas.com on Friday.

The KPK has named four people as suspects for bribery: Rohadi, who was accused of receiving bribes from Saiful's associates, who sought a lenient sentence for Saipul, along with two of Saipul’s lawyers, Berta Natalia and Kasman Sangaji, and Saipul’s brother, Samsul Hidayatullah. (bbn)
