he government has indicated that disagreement regarding land-acquisition price is the main problem hindering toll road projects in the greater Jakarta area. The government plan to hold a special meeting on Friday to discuss a solution.

State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Rini Soemarno said the government would prepare several alternatives as a solution to the land issues, highlighting that each party involved must possess the same perspective; the desire to reduce chronic traffic congestion in the capital.

"There will be a meeting tomorrow at the SOE Ministry office to discuss the issue with the Public Works and Public Housing Minister and the Agrarian and Spatial Planning Minister. Hopefully it can be solved as soon as possible," she said on Thursday.

Many land owners have not approved the official land appraisal conducted by the National Land Agency (BPN) she said.

Last week, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo visited stalled toll road projects in the Greater Jakarta area, including the Depok - Antasari toll road project in South Jakarta, the Bekasi - Kampung Melayu toll road project in East Jakarta, and the Bogor - Ciawi - Sukabumi toll road project in West Java.

With the implementation of the 2012 law on land acquisition for basic infrastructure, the land-acquisition problem should have been solved with more ease. "This law is a legal basis for acceleration in the field," he said. (ags)
