A

lawyer of murder suspect Jessica Kumala Wongso, Otto Hasibuan, has questioned the whereabouts of some crucial pieces of evidence related to the death of Wayan Mirna Salihin on Jan. 6 at Olivier Cafe, Grand Indonesia.

The two pieces of evidence are the straw used by Mirna and water from the pot used to make the coffee that killed her. The prosecutors failed to present the two items of evidence during a hearing at the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday.

“Where is the straw from the coffee? The straw is an important part of this case. The witnesses have talked about the straw a couple of times,” Otto said after the hearing.

Otto also regretted that police officers and prosecutors did not confiscate and examine the water inside the pot that was used to make the Vietnamese coffee for Mirna.

“Water is the main ingredient of coffee. What if the cyanide actually came from the water inside a pot?” Otto said.

Otto also said that none of the witnesses presented by the prosecution had said they had seen Jessica put anything in Mirna's coffee cup.

“The closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage has also not given a clear picture of the incident. So nothing in this case can prove that Jessica is guilty, Otto said. (bbn)
