Jumiatun Muslim, alias Umi Delima, the second wife of recently killed terrorist Santoso, alias Abu Wardah, underwent a health examination at the police’s Bhayangkara Hospital in Palu, Central Sulawesi, on Sunday because of her weak condition.
Jumiatun was arrested by the Operation Tinombala task force on Saturday morning in the Tambarana Mountains in Poso Pesisir, Palu. The task force’s spokesperson, Adj. Sr. Comr. Hari Suprapto, said the diseases that Jumiatun had been suffering from could be a result of living in the jungle for a long time.
“That includes malnutrition and also she is suspected to be in early pregnancy,” Hari told reporters.
Since she was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, the hospital has been tightly guarded by armed officers from the National Police’s Densus 88 counterterrorism squad. Even reporters were not allowed to approach the area around the special room where Jumiatun was treated.
“It is deliberately tightly guarded like that in anticipation of possible security threats against her,” Hari said.
As previously reported, Jumiatun surrendered to the Operation Tinombala task force and was arrested without resistance in a very weak condition on Saturday.
Hari said the arrest was made when the task force’s Team Alfa 17 Raider Garut was sweeping the areas around the site where the unit engaged in a gunfight with Santoso on Monday last week.
Meanwhile, thousands of mourners attended Santoso’s funeral in Lantojaya, Landangan subdistrict, Poso Pesisir district, which was led by preacher Adnan Arsal. Santoso’s body arrived in Landangan on Saturday at about noon under the escort of his sympathizers and supporters who greeted it from Tambarana subdistrict. Some 100 motorcycles and 20 cars accompanied the ambulance that carried the body to the mosque in Landangan before it was taken to the cemetery.
