n Indonesian Ombudsman’s Office investigation has found that Transjakarta bus facilities need to be improved, pointing out that the facilities are still not good enough for Jakarta commuters.
Ombudsman member Ahmad Alamsyah Saragih said on Tuesday there was a lack of infrastructure for the Transjakarta buses on Corridor 1 connecting Blok M in South Jakarta and Kota Station in West Jakarta; Corridor 2 connecting Harmoni in Central Jakarta and Pulogadung in East Jakarta, Corridor 4 connecting Pulogadung bus terminal in East Jakarta to Dukuh Atas 2 in Central Jakarta and Corridor 8 plying the route between Lebak Bulus in South Jakarta and Harmoni in Central Jakarta.
He said the lack of CCTV on Transjakarta footbridges and buses, toilets, fire extinguishers and facilities for the disabled were among the problems he noticed during the investigation, which took place in April.
“We still found a lot of street vendors and beggars on the footbridges,” Alamsyah said as quoted by kompas.com. He said the Transjakarta management should provide comfortable and safe transportation if they wanted commuters to switch from private vehicles to Transjakarta buses.
