Prosecutors will present University of Indonesia psychologist Sarlito Wirawan and criminologist Ronny Nitibaskara on Thursday in the trial of Jessica Kumala Wongso, who is accused of murdering Wayan Mirna Salihin on Jan. 6.

“The time for us is tight so we are prioritizing witnesses who will strengthen our stance. For tomorrow, the courtroom testimonies of both experts have been confirmed,” prosecutor Ardito said after the trial on Wednesday at the Central Jakarta district court.

Ardito cited the argument of criminal law expert Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, who said that direct evidence from an eyewitness was not absolute because a judge could also consider circumstantial evidence.

“Just like in Edward’s explanation, we won’t be able to find eyewitnesses who directly saw someone put cyanide in the coffee as expected by the public and lawyers. However, we’ve presented the relevant facts to the court,” he said.

As of Wednesday, prosecutors have presented nine experts to the court, including forensic doctors Slamet Purnomo and Budi Sampurna, toxicologists Nursamran Subandi and I Made Agus Gelgel Wirasuta, psychologist Antonia Ratih Andjayani, psychiatrist Natalia Widiasih Raharjanti, criminal law expert Edward Omar Sharif Hieriej and forensic digital experts Muhammad Nuh and Christopher Hariman Rianto.
