ive days ahead of the ultimate haj ritual, wukuf (or staying in the field of Arafah), which will fall on Sept.10, four more Indonesia haj pilgrims have passed away in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, Religious Affairs Ministry data revealed on Tuesday.
The figure brings the number of Indonesian pilgrim deaths during this year’s haj season to 68.
According to the ministry’s computerized haj integrated information system’s health data, the four Indonesian haj pilgrims who passed away are Sikan bin Bait Sabut, 59, Nana Supena binti Uba R., 64, Budiyanto bin Lihan Suliman, 57, and Suhaimi bin Jamain Abdul Gafur, 62.
The four haj pilgrims died of natural causes, such as respiratory illness, heart and blood pressure problems, the data revealed as quoted by Antara news agency.
The government has guaranteed that all Indonesia pilgrims who die during the haj and those who pass away while waiting for their departure at embarkation points in Indonesia will have their haj rituals performed on behalf of them.
Sixty-four pilgrims reportedly passed away earlier in Saudi Arabia, most of whom were in their 60s. Pilgrims who died in this year’s haj season were aged in between 41 and 82 years old.
Among pilgrims who passed away were from Batam (Riau Islands), Jakarta, Padang (West Sumatra), Surabaya (East Java) and several cities in West Java. (ebf)
