eing a business-minded public figure as well as a mother, Imelda Fransisca’s top three books focus on a variety of topics, but all impart some wisdom on how to lead a successful, balanced and happy life.
Since becoming the first-ever Miss Indonesia in 2005, Imelda has been very busy. As a public figure, model and last but not least a mother, Imelda has little spare time on her hands, but when asked what her three favorite books were, she responded: “Of all time, or of the ones I am currently reading?” — making it clear that she has long been a fan of books.
Imelda is not only an avid reader, but an author herself. The year after winning the beauty contest, Imelda wrote and published a motivational book titled You Can Be Anything and Make Changes.
In the book, she discusses her personal struggles, including abuse that she suffered as a child and her battle against an eating disorder, and, most importantly, how she was able to overcome them and get to the stage in life where she is now.
Similar to the motivational novel that Imelda authored, her top three books carry a similar theme of self-enrichment and perseverance. A mix of non-fiction and fiction, all three books focus on self-improvement in various areas, including business, personal life and faith.
She said the three books had inspired her and helped her succeed and continue to enrich her experience of life.

Facing Your Giants
by Max Lucado
This book is a novelisation of the 2006 American Christian drama film of the same name and follows the story of a struggling American football coach, whose life and team are in trouble. It is great for giving me perspective and helping me focus on what is really important in my life.

Thrive
by Arianna Huffington
This book — Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Happier Life — is written really well, and it has given me motivation in all aspects of my life. The author is championed as one of the world’s most influential and successful women. However, in this book she makes it clear that the pursuit of money and power is far less important than what she calls “the third metric” (the first two being money and power), which includes our wellbeing, our ability to draw on our intuition, our sense of wonder and our capacity for compassion and giving.
