o-Jek management and drivers have agreed to hold a mediation session on Tuesday at the Jakarta Police office to resolve their dispute over the company’s performance system, after drivers held a massive demonstration at the Go-Jek office on Monday.
South Jakarta precinct police station chief Sr. Comr. Tubagus Ade Hidayat told the protesters that Go-Jek CEO Nadiem Makarim could not meet them for negotiation on Monday, but he had promised to meet them on Tuesday.
"We can settle the problems regarding the new system on Tuesday. We hope that we can find a solution," Tubagus said at the Go-Jek office in South Jakarta on Monday.
The police office was chosen as the location for the mediation to ensure that it remained peaceful and to avoid a situation such as that which occurred on Monday, when drivers blocked a major road, he further said.
Hundreds of Go-Jek drivers staged a protest on Monday to demand the company scrap what they call unfair policies, such as the performance system and the automatic suspension of drivers. (ags)
