apanese electronics company Epson launched on Monday a laser projector that is said to be the world’s first 3LCD 25,000-lumen laser projector for outdoor and large-venue installations.
The launch of the EB-L25000U projector was marked by the projection of a video on the 47-meter Prambanan Temple, a UNESCO world heritage site, on the border of Yogyakarta and Central Java provinces on Monday evening.
The video told the story of the history of the temple construction, which started in the middle of the ninth century.
Epson Singapore’s printers and visual instruments division’s regional general manager (Southeast Asia), Siew Jin Kiat, said the EB-L25000U was Epson’s highest lumen projector and would significantly expand the company’s presence in the high-brightness projector market.
He expressed confidence about significant sales of the US$80,000 EB-L25000U in Southeast Asia including Indonesia, saying there were promising prospects among the region’s rental and staging companies, among the main target markets for the product.
Deputy chief operating officer of Seiko Epson Corporation’s visual product division, Naito Keijiro, said his company’s projector products enjoyed 32 percent market share globally, 29 percent regionally in Southeast Asia and 34 percent nationally in Indonesia.
