he comeback of former transportation minister Ignasius Jonan and former energy minister Arcandra Tahar into the ministry comes with a special mission, namely to reform the energy sector, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has said.

After an inauguration ceremony at the State Palace on Friday, Jokowi told reporters that the two figures were the right choice and were competent professionals to carry out massive reform in the energy sector, highlighting that their well-known persistency would be beneficial to the reform mission.

"It's more on the management, not a personal or political issue. This is an issue of management and I am sure both figures are competent even though I know both are stubborn, but they like to go to the field," he said.

Jonan has been officially appointed as Energy and Mineral Resources Minister with Arcandra as his deputy minister. Arcandra had left the position in the last two months following a fiasco that involved him holding US citizenship.

The inauguration ceremony was held at 1:30 p.m. right before Jokowi departed for a working visit to West Kalimantan. Vice President Jusuf Kalla was not present at the ceremony due to a visit to Makassar, South Sulawesi.

The President further said that both figures would form a good team to face the challenges ahead. "I am sure that they can resolve the problem in the energy sector and be a good team," he said. (ags)
