he West Jakarta Social Agency took into custody 31 people, including beggars and buskers from areas such as Daan Mogot, Tubagus Angke and Kota Tua, on Sunday.

“The raid was part of our attempt to enforce Bylaw No. 8/2007 on public order. We are also trying to make West Jakarta PMKS-free,” agency head Hadi Surya said as quoted by beritajakarta.com, referring to residents with social and community problems.

He said the 31 people would be transferred to the city administration’s Bina Insan Bangun Daya 2 social home in Cipayung, East Jakarta, for further supervision.

Hadi added that he had deployed officers in several areas prone to beggars and buskers including Slipi, Tomang and Kalideres, to carry out daily supervision.
