ambi Police have arrested a man for allegedly stealing crude oil from a pipeline belonging to state-run oil and gas company Pertamina near the south ring road in South Jambi district, Jambi.
The pipeline connects the oil plant in Sungai Gelam to crude oil storage in Kenali Atas, Jambi.
Jambi Police chief Sr. Comr. Bernard Sibarani said Lapin, a security guard with Pertamina, saw the criminal act and then two perpetrators fled. They ran to a residential area and more security guards chased them. Security guards fired warning shots, but the perpetrators ignored them.
“Minutes later, however, one of the perpetrators Rudi, 37, was caught by police personnel from the South Jambi Police branch,” Bernard said Saturday.
The police also confiscated evidence including a Toyota Dyna truck, a Tedmon water container full of crude oil and five empty Tedmon containers.
