akarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama on Thursday introduced acting Governor Soni Sumarsono to officials and other civil servants working for the Jakarta administration after the governor’s office was transferred from Ahok to Soni at the Home Ministry on Wednesday.

Five mayors, one regent, agency heads and district and subdistrict heads gathered at City Hall on Thursday when Ahok introduced Soni to the administration. Together with Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat, Ahok, who is seeking reelection in the Jakarta election on Feb. 15, 2017, will take leave from Oct. 28 to Feb. 11.

"Tomorrow he [Soni] will start working. Don't think it is better to work under him because he is 'crazier' than me. He can work until 1 a.m. to 2 a.m.," Ahok told his subordinates on Thursday, adding that Soni usually works on the weekends.

Ahok credited Soni, the Home Ministry's regional autonomy director general, as an experienced official who well understood matters related to the drafting of the city budget (APBD). In September 2015, he was appointed as acting North Sulawesi governor.

Ahok also offered his final messages to his subordinates before leaving office.

"I hope you will do your jobs and won't play with politics. You all have the right to vote but you don't need to talk about it because it will be troublesome," Ahok said. (bbn)
