nvestigators from the National Police’s internal affairs division have arrested a senior police officer and former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator for alleged extortion.
The police’s general supervision inspector, Comr. Gen. Dwi Priyatno, who also leads a government-sanctioned task force on illegal levies, said police investigators had arrested Adj. Sr. Comr. Brotoseno in Jakarta and had seized Rp 3 billion (US$223,600) in cash as evidence.
“He is currently under intensive interrogation at the internal affairs division,” Dwi said, as quoted by tempo.co on Friday.
Dwi, however, did not detail who Brotoseno may have extorted and for what purpose.

National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar also refused to elaborate about the charges facing Brotoseno, who currently serves as a unit head at the police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim).
Boy, however, hinted that the extortion case was related to graft involving the establishment of rice fields in Ketapang, West Kalimantan, which is currently being investigated by the National Police.
In 2011, Brotoseno, who then served as a KPK investigator, made headlines after KPK leaders hinted he may have had a personal relationship with former lawmaker and beauty queen Angelina Sondakh, who was under investigation by the KPK for graft. (hwa)
