month before the end of the fiscal year, the Jakarta administration has only spent 62 percent of the Rp 62.9 trillion (US$4.7 billion) 2016 budget, acting Jakarta Governor Sumarsono said on Tuesday.
“There are stalled projects that have affected the disbursement of the funds,” he said at City Hall.
The projects include the delayed land acquisition for the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) construction in South Jakarta. The procurement of plots owned by the central government had fallen behind as the city needed to coordinate with related institutions and the National Land Agency (BPN), Sumarsono added.
The city has allocated Rp 250 billion to procure 127 plots of land in Fatmawati, South Jakarta, needed for the project.
Despite the sluggish spending, Sumarsono said he was optimistic that it would speed up by the end of this month following planned disbursements for several of the city’s ongoing projects. “If everything runs smoothly, we will achieve at least 85 percent of budget spending by the middle of this month, and 95 percent by year-end,” he said.
