Jokowi’s picks for ambassadorial posts

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has nominated 23 people to serve as Indonesian ambassadors for various posts starting early next year.  Here is the list of the nominated names.

resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has nominated 23 people to serve as Indonesian ambassadors for various posts starting early next year.

All candidates have completed an examination by the House of Representatives' foreign affairs commission earlier this week as part of the process to confirm their nomination.

Lawmakers will report their findings to the President through the House speakers.

The ambassador-elects, when cleared for duty, are expected to be officially sworn-in sometime in February or March next year.

Here is the list of the nominated names:

  1. Arifin Tasrif, CEO of state-owned PT Pupuk Indonesia, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Japan.
  2. Ferry Adamhar, outgoing director general for international law and agreements at the Foreign Ministry, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Greece.
  3. Priyo Iswanto, a career diplomat, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Colombia.
  4. Kristiarto Legowo, outgoing Foreign Ministry secretary general, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Australia.
  5. Sahat Sitorus, career diplomat, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to East Timor.
  6. Hasan Kleib, outgoing director general for multilateral affairs at the Foreign Ministry, nominated as Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations, serving in Geneva.
  7. Maj. Gen. (ret) Arief Rachman, a lecturer from the Indonesian Defense University, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Afghanistan.
  8. Ngurah Ardiyasa, a career diplomoat, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
  9. Yuddy Chrisnandi, former minister and Hanura Party politician, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Ukraine, Armenia and Georgia, serving in Kiev.
  10. Nur Syahrir Rahardjo, outgoing head of the economic diplomacy working group at the Foreign Ministry, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Bahrain
  11. Esti Andayani, outgoing director general for information and public diplomacy at the Foreign Ministry, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Italy, San Marino, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD), serving in Rome.
  12. Umar Hadi, outgoing Indonesian Consul General in Los Angeles, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to South Korea.
  13. Darmansjah Djumala, outgoing head of the Presidential Secretariat, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Austria and Slovenia and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Industrial Development Organizaiton (UNIDO) and The Organizaiton of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), serving in Vienna.
  14. Sidharto Suryodipuro, outgoing Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to India.
  15. Rina Soemarno, a career diplomat, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh.
  16. Andy Rachmianto, outgoing director for international security and disarmament at the Foreign Ministry, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan.
  17. Adityatwidi "Wieke" Adiwoso, a career diplomat, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Slovakia.
  18. Ratlan Pardede, rector of Jakarta-based Empu Tantular University, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Tanzania.
  19. Tantowi Yahya, Golkar Party lawmaker, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to New Zealand, Samoa and Tonga, serving in Wellington.
  20. Sjachroedin, Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle politician and former governor of Lampung, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Croatia.
  21. Rachmat Pramono, outgoing Indonesian Ambassador to ASEAN, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Kazakhstan.
  22. Ikrar Nusa Bhakti, an Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) political researcher, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Tunisia.
  23. Rusdi Kirana, Lion Group co-founder and member of the Presidential Advisory Board, nominated as Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia.
