T

he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has urged Fahmi Darmawansyah, a suspect in a graft case centered on a procurement project with the Maritime Security Board (Bakamla), to return to Indonesia and voluntarily come to the anti-graft body for questioning.

"According to information we have obtained, Fahmi is currently living overseas. He left Indonesia before the sting operation was carried out," KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah said on Friday.

In a sting operation on Wednesday, six KPK investigators named Fahmi, along with Hardy Stefanus and Muhammad Adami Okta, suspects for allegedly bribing Bakamla deputy chief Eko Susilo Hadi, who is also a suspect in the case, at the Bakamla headquarters in Jakarta.

The three businessmen are executives of PT Melati Technofo Indonesia (MTI), which won the bidding for the procurement of a sea surveillance satellite. They allegedly bribed Eko with Rp 2 billion (US$149,031) as part of a commitment fee amounting to 7.5 percent of the total value of the project.

Fahmi is the only suspect who remains at large.

"For now, the best solution for him is to immediately reutrn to Indonesia and to voluntarily come to the KPK," he said.  (fac/dmr)
