Agus could win in West, East Jakarta, Ahok in Central, North Jakarta: Pollster

A

survey by Poltracking Indonesia has found that Jakarta gubernatorial candidate Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono might secure a majority of votes in East and West Jakarta, municipalities that have the highest number of voters in the capital.

"The Agus supporter base is in West Jakarta with 33.16 percent of support and East Jakarta with 28.70 percent of support," Poltracking Indonesia executive director Hanta Yuda said in a press conference on Thursday.

Hanta went on to say that incumbent Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama's supporter base was in Central Jakarta and North Jakarta with 43.75 percent and 34.17 percent support, respectively.

Meanwhile, the survey showed that Anies could secure a supporter base in South Jakarta and East Jakarta with 35 percent and 28.26 percent support, respectively, he said.

According to data from the Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta), 2,006,397 voters are from East Jakarta, making it the area with the highest number of voters. 

West Jakarta ranks second with 1,652,051 voters, followed by 1,593,700 voters in South Jakarta, 1,091,874 in North Jakarta, 747,152 in Central Jakarta and 17,415 from Thousand Islands regency.
