T

he Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta) will raise bureaucratic and spatial planning issues in the second official gubernatorial debate slated for Jan. 27.

"The debate will discuss reformation in the bureaucracy and public service, as well as in the city's spatial planning," KPU Jakarta head Sumarno told The Jakarta Post on Friday, adding that the debate would again take place at Bidakara hotel in South Jakarta.

Sumarno said KPU Jakarta deemed the candidates as having failed to convey comprehensive solutions to the city’s woes during the first official debate on Jan. 13.

The first debate, which covered several issues, including the economy, environment, transportation and education,  lasted 90 minutes.

The topics of the second debate will be more specific, which should allow the candidates to convey their ideas in detail, Sumarno said.

Sumarno added that KPU Jakarta had appointed four moderators to prepare questions for the debate.

"We will have a meeting with the moderators at 2 p.m. today. Besides discussing the debate questions, we will also discuss the debate concept and duration," he added, refusing to reveal the identities of the moderators.
