he Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta) is set to extend the duration of the second official gubernatorial debate slated for Jan. 27 by 30 minutes to enable all of the candidates to impart their ideas more comprehensively.
“We will extend the duration from 90 minutes to 120 minutes so that each candidate can explain their vision and programs more thoroughly,” KPU Jakarta head Sumarno said at his office in Salemba, Central Jakarta, on Monday.
Just like the first debate on Jan.13, he said the second debate would be divided into six sessions. Each session will go for a longer period of time and candidates will have the chance to question and debate one another.
Sumarno further said that two moderators would ask questions composed by four panelists.
He said a well-known presenter would act as one of the moderators of the debate and the other moderator, a scholar, would drill into the candidates with policy detail.
The debate is scheduled to be held at Hotel Bidakara in South Jakarta. The debate will start at 7:30 p.m. and will be aired by 12 television stations. (ebf)
